Dr. Niazur Rahman, Executive Director
MBBS (University of Dhaka, Bangladesh); MSc (Queen’s University, ON, Canada)

Niazur is a biomedical and molecular researcher with a primary focus on investigating the role of immunity in obesity-associated diabetes, while also having broader interests in human anatomy, histology, and medical education. Currently, he is working as a doctoral researcher at the University of Toronto (UofT), Canada, where he also teaches anatomy at the medical school. With a career spanning over 15 years in medical teaching, biomedical/molecular research, and clinical practice, Niazur possesses a comprehensive skill set and in-depth understanding necessary to drive positive outcomes in these roles. As a passionate educator, he is committed to fostering a learner-centered classroom that encourages the practical application of knowledge. Niazur has a proven track record of excellence in building strong relationships between students, faculty, and administrators. His rich teaching experience across diverse institutes and global locations equips him to thrive in culturally diverse settings, facilitating inclusive and collaborative learning. Through his work, Dr. Rahman strives to contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge and ultimately, enhance patient care standards.

Dr. Ranjan Roy, Director, Policy Implementation
MBBS (University of Dhaka, Bangladesh); M.Sc (University of Sheffield, England); PhD (University of Otago, New Zealand)

Dr. Roy is currently working as a Post-Doc Fellow in the Center for Neuroinflammation and Cardiometabolic Disease, Georgia State University, USA. He is investigating the central mechanisms underpinning the mental health disorder following heart failure. After MBBS, Dr. Roy completed an MSc from the Dept. of Molecular Medicine, University of Sheffield, England, and later in 2014, he joined the University of Otago, New Zealand to pursue his Ph.D. degree where he investigated the central pathway of sympathetic activation following acute myocardial infarction.

Dr. Ruksana Raihan, Director, Research & Development
MBBS (University of Dhaka, Bangladesh); M.Phil (BSMMU, Bangladesh); Ph.D. (University of Malaya, Malaysia)

Dr. Raihan is currently leading US-Bangla Molecular & Gazi COVID-19 PCR lab in Bangladesh. She is also serving as a senior consultant of the American Society of Microbiology, a partner organization of CDC USA, and is involved in strengthening laboratory information management systems in Bangladesh. Ruksana has substantial experience in laboratory procedures, molecular techniques, and clinical trials. Besides, she has a proven track of teaching biomedical sciences both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her areas of research interest are molecular virology, Hepatitis-B, and chronic liver disease.

Dr. Jannatul Ferdous, Director, Laboratory Training Services
MBBS; M.Phil (University of Dhaka, Bangladesh)

Dr. Ferdous is an immunologist and infection control & prevention expert working in Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital, Bangladesh. She manages a microbiology & immunology lab that primarily provides diagnostic medical services. Additionally, she has over a decade of microbiology teaching experience in medical schools. Her subjects of interest are antimicrobial resistance and nosocomial infection.

Dr. Badar Uddin Umar, Coordinator, Research Integration
MBBS (Islamia University, Pakistan); M.Phil (BSMMU, Bangladesh); CRA (Oxford College, Canada)

Dr. Umar is a medical educator and clinical researcher with expertise in pharmacology, herbal extraction, natural products, and medical education. He is currently working as an instructor at Oxford College of Arts, Business and Technology, Canada. He taught pharmacology in medical schools across Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan for more than 15 years. With over twenty years of experience in medical education, clinical research & clinical practice, Dr. Umar has gathered all the skill sets needed for the effective transmission of knowledge to the pupils.

Dr. ABM Al Mamun, Coordinator, Training Management
MBBS; MD (University of Dhaka, Bangladesh)

Dr. Mamun is a transfusion medicine specialist, presently working in Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Bangladesh. He is one of the pioneers in introducing and developing convalescent plasma therapy for COVID-19 patients in Bangladesh. Dr. Mamun is a well-trained professional in the field of transfusion disorders & immunotherapy. His research interests include immunohematology and blood component therapy.

Dr. Tanbira Alam, Coordinator, Administrative Services
MSc (Queen’s University, ON, Canada); Grad Cert in Clinical Research (Canada); PGCert in Med. Education (Newcastle University, UK); MBBS; M.Phil (University of Dhaka, Bangladesh);

In her latest role, Tanbira has worked in the muscle physiology lab of the SKHS at Queen’s University, Canada. Her expertise includes clinical research. exercise & muscle physiology, nutrition, and medical education. Dr. Alam’s overarching goal is to continually learn and develop her skills in the field of clinical research, aiming to make a meaningful impact on healthcare and global health.

Dr. Nazmun Nahar Alam, Coordinator, Teaching-Learning

Dr. Alam has been working as an assistant professor of Pharmacology and pre-clinical coordinator at AIMST University, Malaysia. Her research interests are DNA vaccines, drug design development, molecular diagnostics, and medical education. She has over ten years of teaching experience in medical pharmacology. Passionate to learn and share experiences with peers.
